“Concerned Friends"

Maybe if he turned off those sad songs
Maybe happiness is a choice,
a leap of faith
a blind step

“My heart is hollowed for the expectation of you”
“Like a miscut puzzle,”
“I can force you into the mold,”
“but you’ll never quite fit”

And he has every reason to be happy
Yet he finds hate in the world
He waits to be wronged
so he can sulk over his wounds
He waits for the right train
and doesn’t notice
the sun setting behind him
or the station closing up
He daydreams the waking hours to all hell
and questions where the time has gone

“No Juliet to the Romeo that is my life”
“No passion, no fire, no fear, no desires”

Can’t he see life can’t wait to see him live
Maybe a day, he’ll wake up to it
