“Decieving Darkness”

I want to hide from the hidden.
I want to get lost in the unknown.
To trick the great abyss,
I must venture off alone.

The shadows have been my home
for as long as I can remember.
There is no light in my world,
narry a lone ember.

I live entrenched by
an oppressive lack of luminosity.
How am I to revolt
when I can’t see my hands beside me?

No, this is not myself I hear.
Death couldn’t rattle me.
What’s left out there to fear?
I must carry on and see.

Darkness holds nothing.
Not over me or away.
I am a fighter.
I shall live to see another day.
