“Someday, Sunday”

I don’t mean to berate you or overwhelm
but the chorus of your voice lifts me up
I don’t mean to be dramatic
but your presence lifts me up
You have this energy about you
This energy that carries,
carries with it,
Euphoria
and you let me breathe it in and exhale it out
You have of you this existence I crave
because here in the skies I am cold

Someday, Sunday
I’ll tell you who I am

One day she’ll get tired of panting and pacing
One day she will get tired and she will stop panting
and she will stop pacing and she will breathe her last
and when she breathes her last and collapses and dies

when she dies

she’ll drop the key and I’ll reach through these metal bars
and I’ll take the key and get out of this cage
I’ll get out of this cage and I’ll jump from the clouds where she kept me

I’ll fall and I’ll hit the ground
I’ll collapse and lie on my back
The earth will make a creature of itself
and from the mud it will cover my eyes
When I wipe the dirt away I will see differently

From then, I will see with an orange film over my blue eyes
And everything will be different
And this is good
It is not good and that is different
It is different and that is good

Someday, Sunday
I’ll tell you where I exist

But for now darling, you exist
and you are beautiful
and I have a place waiting for me

There is a mold of my body in the dirt and in the ground
I must fall into this mold someday, Sunday

Someday, Sunday
I will tell you about me

I saw the most beautiful storm darling
I saw the orange hues of you in the skies
But I had to leave it, I wandered away
Towards the bleak and gray

I see us in the sky
I see you as the blues and the oranges
and I as the clouds
I see you as the blanket
and me as the pillows

In my journey I saw you
I saw you in the orange heat of streetlamps
and the headlights of cars passing by
I know even though I leave, I will return
I will see you in all your orange and feel you
in all of your warmth that I know you carry darling
I will return to you someday, Sunday

So until we meet again
Find me darling
As I find you
in the streetlamps
and the sky
and the cars
passing by

Find me in the times when you can’t find
the word you look for

Find me when you hesitate to live
Scared to mess it all up

Find me when you feel
like a lost child in a life
you’re not ready for
on a path you didn’t choose
at a rate you cannot change

Find me there because I am
a lost child in a life
I’m not ready for
on a path I did not choose
at a rate I cannot change

But I love you darling and

Someday, Sunday

I’ll find the guts to slip those bars
and jump
